Banksy does New Orleans
Banksy certainly keeps on the move. Now he's turned up in New Orleans, with a series of new graffiti designs critical of the US government. One of his images shows a boy on a swing. Instead of a tire, the swing is made up of a life preserve. In another, an old man in a rocking chair holding the American flag sits beneath a "No Loitering" sign.
It's assumed from the style that these artworks are by Banksy but the problem with being an anonymous figure is thaf it's hard to tell if the work is genuine.
But whether or not the work is by Banksy himself, these new designs may have a limited life span. New Orleans has its very own graffiti crusader, Fred Radtke, who has taken it upon himself to obliterate graffiti with grey paint. Fred usually applies himself to the run-of-the-mill tags and doodles to be found in any city, but whether he'll take on the new Banksy artworks remains to be seen.
